Senior Water Conservation Coordinator
She would tell you that she is boring and that she has a brown thumb. But anyone who has ever met Neecie Schlesener would know that she is fun loving and unique and that her smile is contagious.
Neecie coordinates the six water watchers who work for TMWA during the summer months. All other months you can find her working with customers to help them understand their water bill, how they can conserve more water, whether or not they have a leak, and so on.
"We are investigators," Neecie said.
She likes problem solving and focuses her efforts on educating customers about the importance of using water responsibly.
Neecie once discovered a toilet leak that wasted more than 200,000 gallons of water in just a 30-day period.
Growing up in Carson City, she understands the need to use water responsibly and is passionate about conserving our most precious resource.
Neecie joined Sierra Pacific Power Company in 1984. In 1999, she accepted a position in the Power Company's water division and joined TMWA in 2001.
Certified as a Nevada Nurseryman, Neecie is also involved in the Green Industry. She regularly assists in the various community events and landscaping workshops that TMWA takes part in to help tell the community how they can save water.
If she could spend the day with someone in history it would probably be Princess Diana. But don't expect to see her traveling to England any time soon.
"I like to stay in the states and travel," Neecie said. She has traveled to almost every western and mid-western state in the U.S. and recently visited Mt. Rushmore.
After her first job at the State of Nevada's Division of Water Resources, she made a life for herself in Albuquerque, N.M. for several years working for the second largest law firm in the state.
Nowadays, when she isn't working, she likes hanging out with her husband, family and friends.
